Simple Placemats & Potholders

The first thing I had to do was collect a bunch of fabric from my stash :)

Once I gathered a significant amount, I ironed it all and laid the pieces out on a table to see which colours and patterns I liked together.

This is my final selection.

Once I had my fabric selected, I needed to create  my pattern. 

 

Below, you can see that I have decided on a partial vertical and horizontal design.

Here is a  closeup of the horizontal part of the design

Here it is all hand stitched

I made two of them as you can see below :)

Now for the potholders that match :)

I didn't take photos during the sewing process, so unfortunately I can't show you how I put them all together.
