From Sadness to Gladness

Unfortunately, Pickles, one of our 14 year old cats passed away suddenly on February 27.

He had a massive stroke that paralyzed his entire left side and completely blinded him...we opted to put him down rather than have him suffer.

I will include many pictures of him here for you to see him in happier days

As you can see, Pickles' death caused a HUGE gap...not only for Trevor and me, but also for Magoo.  He and Pickles were brothers and had never been apart.

Our solution was to get another kitty to help us with the transition and to help keep Magoo in good spirits.

I know a lot of people say that this is a bad idea, but I don't think it is.  My cat was part of a pair all his life and suddenly 2 months shy of his 14th birthday he finds himself alone...you would think that would kill him far quicker than another companion.

Those are my thoughts anyway.

We went to the Clayton Park Veterinary Hospital, (two minutes away from our house) and spoke to them about acquiring a kitten.

The lovely staff recommended we adopt a kitten from one of the shelters nearby, such as Bide Awhile, which is a NO KILL shelter.

And that is just what we did...

Darrold R. Gould (the Executive Director) welcomed us into the Bide Awhile Shelter, showed us all of the available kittens and answered all of our questions.

That is where we met a 14 week old, male kitten that the shelter staff had named "EGGS"...Ha ha ha

Trevor decided on a new name...he came up with the name GREGG!  Ha ha ha...he figured since the kitten  was being called EGGS - GREGG wasn't too unfamiliar.

Well now Gregg is home and settling in just fine...Magoo on the other hand will require a little bit more time.

On the bright side, he's way too busy hissing and growling to be sad!!!

I would like to introduce you to our newest family member...

Meet Gregg

Out of tragedy and sadness...came love and laughter.

I sure hope you enjoyed this post as much as I enjoyed sharing it with you.
